Sample Source Unboxing

11 Nov

Last year I had a bit of an obsession with beauty boxes. I was subscribed to a few and ended up with a stockpile of  samples that are currently sitting underneath my bathroom sink unused. Yet, I cannot resist having a box delivered to my house. Beauty boxes were fairly expensive monthly subscriptions, so when I discovered companies like Sample Source which sends free sample boxes of household products I was sold.

I received two nearly identical boxes – one was sent to my house and the other to my parent’s house.

Box #1:

Basmati Minute Rice, Breath Right Strips (2), Snuggle Exhilarations (Wild Orchid & Vanilla Kiss), Sunlight Oxi Action, Sunlight Triple Clean Packs (2), Finish Quantum (2), Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief Toothpaste, Icebreakers Frost, Tetley Cinnamon Spice Tea, Harvest Crunch Quinoa Granola Bar

I received 2 of each and gave them to my dad and brother.

Box 2:

Schick Hydro 5, Minute Maid Jasmine Rice, Tetley Green Tea

Overall, I am very happy with what I received and will most likely use almost everything. If you enjoy trying out new household products, I highly suggest signing up for Sample Source.

Casual Fridays

DKNY Jacket, Forever 21 Sweater, Forever 21 Shirt, AllSaints Jeans, Coach Bag, Mason Scotch Flats, Jewelry from Italy

I have a confession: I detest jeans.

I used to be unable to live without them and collected an embarrassing amount throughout the years. This all changed once I went on an extended trip to Europe and decided only to bring a carryon (more about that later). Jeans were too bulky to pack so I decided to forgo jeans and relied on leggings and dresses.

Fridays in the office is deemed casual and EVERYBODY dons their denim. At first I would wear my take on a “casual” dress, but I would get called out for being “too fancy”. Alas being the newbie, I was forced to conform. Luckily, I have found the BEST jeans at AllSaints that are both stylish and comfortable. Paired with a polka dot sweater and crisp white shirt with a leather collar I was all prepared to take on what I would consider “smart” casual attire.

Holt Renfrew Opening Night Party

22 Oct

Last night I was invited to Holt Renfrew’s opening night party for Toronto Fashion Week. It was a surreal experience being greeted by a dozen people as I walked in, asking to take my coat and leading me up to the event. I’m really a fish out of water when it comes to these things, as I knew no one other than the person I came with.

Throughout the evening, we mingled with other guests, feasted on hors d’oeuvres, macaroons, and tiny donuts, and indulged in the most delicious cocktails. The Ciroc Red Berry Lemonade was perfection.

I felt awkward taking pictures with my iPhone, but did sneak a couple shots. If I ever do see any of the shots the photographers snapped I’ll be sure to post them.

Taking Care of Business

DKNY Trousers, DKNY Shirt, Tahari Blazer, Kate Spade Purse, Stuart Weitzman Pumps, Forever 21 Necklace, Armani Sunglasses

It’s always a challenge attempting to stay young and vibrant with a business casual dress code. To add a little edge to an otherwise standard office uniform, I paired skinny trousers with a classic white shirt, studded blazer, and a mint statement necklace. During lunch, Vida, from Made in Tdot, and I decided to have an impromptu photo shoot at College Park.
